Holiday-rental refurbishment in S'Arenal with moisture-resistant board

A 55 m² holiday apartment on the second floor in S'Arenal, 150 metres from the beach, had combined coastal-moisture and neighbour-noise problems. The original plaster ceiling showed recurring damp marks reappearing each winter, and the party walls transmitted noise from the neighbouring flat, generating constant guest complaints in high season.

A full false ceiling was installed with moisture-resistant board (H-type) throughout the home (55 m²), with recessed LED lighting in the living room and bedroom. On the two party walls a standard 15 mm drywall lining was installed with 48 mm high-density mineral wool and a perimeter acoustic band (22 m² of treated surface). In the bathroom and kitchen, moisture-resistant board was also used on the wall linings to protect against the ambient humidity typical of a seafront location.

The works were carried out in 6 working days in November, with a total cost of €4,800. Moisture has not returned in the two seasons since, and the acoustic reduction eliminated noise complaints.
