Why Calvià Villas Need Insulation
1985-2008 boom under NBE-CT-79
NBE-CT-79 required a façade U-value ≤1.6 W/m²K: achievable with 20 cm block façade + empty cavity. CTE DB-HE §3 "Limitation of energy demand" (2006, revised 2013 and 2019) demands U ≤0.35 W/m²K in walls with a target U <0.30 W/m²K in climate zone B3 (Mallorca, DB-HE Annex B).
Common types in Nova Santa Ponça, Sol de Mallorca and Costa d'en Blanes:

Large glazed areas
30-40 m² of glass with U 3.2-5.7 W/m²K against walls with U 1.6-1.8. In summer, solar gain G-value 0.68-0.75 without protection: south receives 5.2 kWh/m²·day in July (PVGIS, Calvià).
Critical roof (zone B3, 800 W/m² at solar noon)
Roofs receive perpendicular radiation at noon (800 W/m² in August). Without insulation, under-roof temperature exceeds 55-60°C in July. A Knauf false ceiling with Rockwool Alpharock 100 mm (U 0.28 W/m²K) divides heat transfer by 6-7.
South and south-west orientation
Sea-view urbanisations (Bendinat, Portals, Costa d'en Blanes): south façade receives >5 kWh/m²·day in June-August. Insulating south/west is the priority (modified solar factor fs = 0.65-0.85).
